the Great Inscribed Portal

Between the Pylon towers is a large decorated gate, 26 2/3 cubits by 10; its perfect height from head to foot is 40 cubits...
Its perfect doors from genuine conifer wood (cedar) are covered with Asiatic copper (bronze). Its door-bolts and the frames of its bolt-openings (from sheet copper?) are perfect; all the lions (of the bolts) are ready to act against foreigners. Its great doors repel the enemies and its walls keep out the foes.

About the Great Inscribed Portal

The Central Doorway of the Temple stands 39 feet high. At its height, just above the carved image of Apy, a great balcony. During the Festival Coronation of the Sacred Falcon. A newly-chosen falcon perches on the balcony and is installed as the Living Horus. On either side of the Portal are mismatched statues of Horus in full falcon form. The doors, though no longer present, were made of fine cedar from Biblos, covered with bronze. The door-bolts were formed as lions as magic against foreigners. The doors were inscribed with rituals for repelling foreigners, and was set in place on December 5th, 57bce. Each leaf of the door was 46 feet high, 10 feet wide, and 12 inches thick. Each morning at dawn the great doors were opened, and at sunset closed. It was only on festival days that the Great Inscribed Portal was used to enter the Temple, all other days entrance was gained through the Portals.
